Project Description
After serving as the lead consultant to develop the Maumee River Basin
Commission Floodplain Master Plan, CBBEL staff have been assisting the
Maumee River Basin Commission (MRBC) and its staff to develop priorities
and implement the recommended Master Plan components. This local
knowledge has enabled CBBEL to become the engineering firm of choice for
drainage services in the watershed. CBBEL assistance to date has included
assisting MRBC staff to obtain $1.3 million as seed money for the
implementation of the MRBC's short-term priorities, developing a
step-by-step guide for the implementation plan, assisting various
communities with their ordinances and developing details of various MRBC
funding programs. These programs details that included procedures,
application forms, and technical guidelines, were developed for MRBC’s
obstruction removal, flood proofing, voluntary buyout, and land use
conversion programs. In 1999, MRBC received a national award citing these
reports as successful models for the nation.
