Project Description

Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd., (CBBEL) prepared contract documents for the rehabilitation and resurfacing of 131st Street.  The design for the rehabilitation of 131st Street included patching of approximately 1500 square yards of 14” thick asphalt patches.  The roadway was milled and resurfaced with 31/2” of combined binder and surface courses, including area reflective crack control treatment.  The existing guardrail was replaced and new traffic barrier terminals were installed to bring the roadway into compliance with current safety standards.  New signal detector loops were installed at the LaGrange Road and Southwest Highway intersections.

 

Scope of Engineering & Professional Services

In addition to design services, Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd. (CBBEL) also provided construction engineering services for the rehabilitation and resurfacing of 131st Street.  These services included full-time on-site inspection, construction layout, documentation of quantities and material inspection.  The project occurred under Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) jurisdiction.  CBBEL was also responsible for documenting all quantities, change orders, and material inspection for project acceptance and close-out through IDOT.  The construction cost of this project was approximately $225,000.
