Project Description

CBBEL was part of a multi-disciplinary professional team which investigated and designed comprehensive improvements to State Road 46 between I-65 and the East Fork of White River in Columbus.  This corridor, a gateway into the City of Columbus, also included a modified interchange, and reconstruction of major bridges adjacent to the main corridor.

Scope of Engineering & Professional Services

CBBEL was responsible for the delineation of regulatory wetlands within the project area and developing a mitigation plan for impacts to wetlands. CBBEL also completed detailed hydrologic and hydraulic computer models of the East Fork White, Driftwood and Flatrock Rivers along with the local drainage system. This included the critical element of highway elevation since the Driftwood River overtops the roadway for nearly a length of one mile. The engineering and environmental evaluation was necessary for design of the roadway improvements, adjoining trail system and land use alternatives within the corridor.
