Project Description

CBBEL developed a Watershed Management Plan for the Spring Creek-Lick Run Watershed.

The Spring Creek-Lick Run Watershed is a 14-digit watershed located in North Central Indiana.  It is one of 44 subwatersheds located in the Wildcat Creek Watershed.  The Spring Creek-Lick Run Watershed drains 10,842 acres of predominantly agricultural land in Clinton County.  There are approximately 16.8 miles of natural and constructed waterways in the Spring Creek-Lick Run Watershed that drain into the South Fork of Wildcat Creek.  Approximately one-third of these waterways are listed on the IDEM 2002 Impaired Stream List for E.coli bacteria, Ammonia, Organic Enrichment, and dissolved oxygen violations.

Scope of Engineering & Professional Services

CBBEL provided watershed coordination services necessary for the development of the Spring Creek-Lick Run Watershed Management Plan.

During the planning process, CBBEL, facilitated monthly meetings of an Advisory Board, Education Committee, Technical Committee, Land Use Committee, and Funding Committee.  Goals and objectives that address water quality issues, as well as, a timeline for implementation were developed during committee meetings.  Monthly news releases, quarterly newsletters, and regular webpage updates were used to keep the general public informed of the watershed planning effort.  The public was invited to participate in all committee and quarterly stakeholder meetings.

CBBEL assisted the Clinton County Soil & Water Conservation District with a Section 319 grant application to implement the goals and objectives identified in this Plan.  The grant was awarded and implementation began in July 2003.
