Dams and Levees
Many difficulties face dam owners in Indiana, and many issues require specialized expertise. Recent regulatory changes have put additional responsibility on dam owners to ensure that dams are properly maintained. Since many dams have reached or exceeded their design life, greater pressure on the safety, use, and function have been placed on dam owners and government agencies. CBBEL staff have a wealth of experience necessary to address the issues facing dam owners and the general public. We routinely perform the following services:

Dam Inspection
Dam Rehabilitation
Spillway Design
Regulatory Permitting
New Dam Design
Multi-use Facility Planning & Design
Dam Removal

While fewer dams and levees are being constructed today than in the past, many dams across the nation require inspection and rehabilitation to function properly and safely. In some cases, dam removal provides environmental benefits to the community. CBBEL staff have worked with both public and private owners of dams. Our projects have varied from new dam or levee systems to rehabilitation of aged structures. Our expertise has manifested itself in the “Indiana Dam Safety Inspection Manuel” authored by CBBEL staff on behalf of the State and by obtaining specialized training and certifications related to dams.:
