The Jefferson Boulevard streetscape project was one of South Bend’s first projects to incorporate complete street concepts.
With multiple projects under construction at the same time, the city asked Burke to provide construction observation as well as project management services for this groundbreaking project.
Garnering buy-in from the community and store owners along Jefferson Boulevard was of utmost importance for the first of many planned projects of this type. The city worked to create a space that was aesthetically pleasing and functional for pedestrians and vehicular traffic at the same time.
In an effort to streamline the construction process, our inspectors created a Google Docs account as well as a project blog to share with the entire project team. Using the technology in this way kept the team easily informed with daily progress updates. Burke managed the project to complete it on time and within budget.
